Sydney Airport T2, P3 Carpark

Sydney Airport T2, P3 Carpark

Efficient and pleasurable car parking facilities are an important component of airports. The P3 carpark at Sydney Airport’s Domestic Airport is a nuanced design solution that is both functional and delightful. Delivered across a number of stages, the final carpark provides 1,402 spaces over nine levels.

A perforated metal façade reflects the language of existing carpark structures at Sydney Airport and creates a lightness to the overall appearance. Use of the airport’s established wayfinding guidelines and close consultation with airport representatives gave strategic insight into the hierarchy of functionality and distribution zones, ensuring DesignInc has legibly accommodated several parking typologies within a single cohesive design format.

Evolution and expansion

The initial structure—completed in 2014—was future-proofed with additional load capacity and adaptable façade system. As a result, in 2017 when three levels and a connecting bridge were added, the extension was straightforward and delivered with minimal disruption.
