Sydney Airport T2, Retail Expansion and Loading Dock Facility

To meet the growing needs of Sydney Airport, DesignInc was commissioned to expand Terminal 2 with a new retail concourse and associated loading dock, as well as a new mezzanine airline lounge / commercial office.

A benchmark in both retail and aviation design, the design offers a delightful and welcoming experience for visitors and staff while ensuring operational efficiency and security. Catering to a wide range of patrons, retail offerings are varied, and the layout ensures seamless connectivity to gates and lounges while providing spaces to linger.

Existing facilities had outgrown their capacity: the upgrade includes a new goods lift, replacement of existing goods lift, relocation of existing plant rooms, re-organisation of the security entry zone, changes to ground transport, ground services relocations. The Level 2 concourse was expanded by approximately 730 square meters, providing a new bathroom amenities block, new retail areas, a goods storage loading dock facility which incorporated the relocation and improvements to the of waste facilities for the entire terminal.
