A ‘place to try new things’, Deakin University’s manufacturing innovation incubator, ManuFutures, can accommodate up to 15 enterprises at various stages of marketisation. The project aligns with the University’s research direction, supporting manufacturing enterprises that are designing for the future. Drawing upon Deakin’s research expertise, ManuFutures connects a community of innovators: students, teachers and industry. Located on Deakin’s Waurn Ponds campus, two dynamic building extrusions extend across the sloping site, with production spaces and café at ground level and offices and research spaces on the first. Modular design allows for staged expansion to the south, effectively doubling the facility’s capacity.
