Cabrini Health Gandel Wing opens
We’re very happy to announce the recent opening of the Cabrini Health Gandel Wing, following nine years of planning and development to improve the hospital’s facilities.
Bates Smart delivered the architecture and design vision for the new building, with DesignInc providing health planning services as the collaborating clinical consultant. Located in Malvern, Victoria, the seven-storey building features the latest in modern technology and urban amenity to serve the needs of patients receiving specialty care.
Integrating technology with patient care was pivotal to our work on the project. Expansion of the emergency department, new oncology services, maternity services, cardiac and geriatric services make up the remainder of the clinical offerings. The new radiotherapy facility, located four levels underground, incorporates a linear accelerator to deliver radiation therapy to patients; the latest advancement in stereotactic radiation therapy. Such inclusions make for a highly efficient operating model that is intuitive and user-friendly.
As Cabrini Health’s Chief Executive Dr Michael Walsh notes, ‘Cabrini has always played an important role in caring for patients in the local area and beyond. And the state-of-the-art building will help us to deliver the utmost care to our patients as we enter a new era in technology.’ This patient-centric design model ultimately enhances wellbeing and quality of life via a well-considered and holistic healthcare experience.
