St Martins Lutheran College Food Technology + Art

In 2015 DesignInc completed a Master Plan for St Martins Lutheran College in Mount Gambier to develop a middle school and upgrade existing facilities. The Stage 2 works include a junior food technology space coupled with Vocational Education Training (VET) commercial kitchen on the ground floor.

The kitchen facilities flow out to a learning commons that can cater to a food service ‘dining experience’ or support a variety of school events. General learning areas on the upper level are used predominately as art spaces and include supporting staff preparation and store rooms. Flexibility in the floor plan and the provision of natural light were key design considerations for these studios. The design solution enables the space to transform from individual learning areas to a large gallery or meeting space.
