DesignInc is proud to partner with Monash University in the transformation of 343 Royal Parade, Parkville — a former CSIRO facility — into a world-class research hub for the Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (MIPS). Located within Melbourne’s internationally recognised Biomedical Precinct, the project supports MIPS’ continued growth and its global reputation for excellence in pharmaceutical education and research.
Our design reimagines the existing six-storey building as a vibrant, sustainable, and collaborative environment that enables pioneering scientific discovery. The facility will bring together four leading research groups within purpose-built spaces that are highly flexible, adaptable, and tailored to meet the university’s evolving needs. The revitalised building will offer state-of-the-art laboratories and research spaces designed to foster innovation, attract philanthropic support, and highlight Monash’s leadership in pharmaceutical sciences to a global audience.
The refurbishment enhances energy efficiency, safety, and accessibility, while meeting the highest regulatory and compliance standards. This commitment ensures long-term functionality, comfort, and environmental performance. The design respects the site’s residential surroundings and leverages the amenity of adjacent landscapes. A proposed rooftop terrace will offer panoramic views over Royal Park and the Melbourne skyline — creating opportunities for informal collaboration and engagement.
This transformative project strengthens Monash University’s role within Melbourne’s biomedical ecosystem and supports its commitment to advancing health and research outcomes locally and globally.
