Rising at the heart of Brisbane Technology Park, this next-generation commercial office building blends smart design, sustainability and sculpted outdoor spaces—redefining what a workplace can be in Queensland’s leading innovation precinct.
This project, located within Brisbane Technology Park’s innovation precinct, is the penultimate commercial office building. It comprises two basement car park levels, end-of-trip amenities, and three office levels.
The design concept focused on enhancing the landscaping and podium areas to improve the building’s outdoor environment. These spaces were transformed into functional outdoor zones, featuring planting and shading elements that create comfortable breakout areas for tenants.
The building’s form and façade design were guided by two key considerations. First, the orientation of the building envelope was optimised for solar control by aligning the longer elevations along the north and south, and the shorter elevations along the east and west. Second, with street frontages on both the north and south, the design needed to present a strong visual identity from both directions. Since most people would view the building from an angled or side approach, the façades were designed to be visually engaging from these perspectives. This was achieved through a carefully articulated entablature, with the building envelope strategically alternating between projecting and recessed elements.
Sustainability was a key focus, involving solar panel integration, effective sun shading, optimal building envelope orientation, careful material selection, and efficient heating/cooling systems. DesignInc’s role encompassed concept design to construction documentation, with construction-phase services including site inspections, addressing RFIs, and regular site attendance to support the project manager.
