DesignInc Sydney has released its statement on the organisation’s gender-based pay, utilising datasets provided by the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA).

DesignInc Sydney Head of People and Culture, Tara Keast, said:

“It is my responsibility to lead DesignInc Sydney’s evolution into a future thinking workplace, one of compassion and inclusivity.

“Since I started, it has been a core objective to move towards gender equality within the organisation, and I’m proud to say we’ve successfully achieved a 50/50 gender split, including at Director level. Our shift in recruitment policy is based around a culture of diversity. This means we actively recruit women and people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.

“Respect and Equality Workshops, Cultural Events, Health and Wellbeing events, Mental Health Days, Employee Assistance Program, Flexible Working Policies, Be At Your Best Days, Parental Leave Policies and Domestic and Family Violence Support are but a few of our initiatives driving this change.”

DesignInc prides itself on its gender split in what is predominately a male-based industry.

DesignInc Sydney has a 50/50 split of male and female at the Board of Directors level and overall the staff ratio is 53% female and 47% male.

“53% of new joiners to the business in the last 12 months have been female,” said Keast. “Our aim is to attract and retain women in the architecture industry.”
