Glenwood Community Hub
The Glenwood Community Hub is a key public facility for the local community. Applying human-centred principles, DesignInc provided architectural and interior design services to upgrade the existing neighbourhood centre from a 140 single-use hall to a multi-purpose facility with a 250 person hall that can be used by up to six separate groups, a smaller hall, individual function rooms that can accommodate groups of 10-30 people, and a cafe.
With an emphasis on families and youth, the new hub accommodates health and wellbeing activities with recreational, business, cultural event and learning facilities.
A cohesive new identity was forged with a ribbon-like canopy framing entry lobbies, and weaving together old and new building sections. Landscaping and an art installation by local practitioner, Nerine Martini embeds the building with the local community.
The entry canopy flows like a ribbon which highlights the main circulation spine which creates the primary identity of the buildingRichard Does
