Wulanda Recreation + Community Centre wins ‘Community Facility of the Year’ at the 2023 Parks and Leisure SA/NT Region Awards of Excellence.

The Parks and Leisure Australia Regional Awards of Excellence celebrate the outstanding initiatives and innovative efforts of ‘the people behind the places’ which promote good use of leisure time for a number of social, environmental and economic benefits to the community.

The community facility award recognises facilities that demonstrate innovative features of design, development and operation. Since its opening, Wulanda has become the new community gathering space, providing a community facility that meets the needs of the broad demographics within the Mount Gambier region.

Congratulations to the project team for this recognition of their outstanding work over the last four years to bring this successful project to fruition.

Wulanda Recreation + Convention Centre is now in the running for the National Awards of Excellence to be announced later this year.

We are extremely proud to see the contribution that Wulanda brings to the community be recognised by the Parks and Leisure Association.

Wulanda Recreation + Convention Centre

Community / Recreation

Limestone sinkholes and ancient volcanic events have formed Berrin / Mount Gambier’s environs and provide natural focal points in the landscape. These distinctive landmarks inform the design of the Wulanda Recreation and Convention Centre, a gathering place for all to participate in sports, recreation, and community events. Wulanda means ‘enjoy or cherish’ in Bunganditj language and acknowledges the Boandik peoples as the Traditional Owners of the land where the centre stands. The new consolidated complex replaces aging aquatics and sporting facilities, bringing multiple community-focused spaces under one roof.

DesignInc is proud to announce that we have achieved dual Climate Active certification, which certifies both our Services and Organisation. Currently, DesignInc is the only architecture practice in Australia that holds Climate Active certification for Service.

St Joseph’s School Hectorville Learning Building

Completing Stage 3 of its master plan, the new general learning building is the first major two-storey development for St Joseph’s School Hectorville. The contemporary learning building fosters student engagement by promoting sociability, communication, collaboration, and creativity. The new building provides eight modern learning areas, out-of-school hours care (OSHC) facilities, and allied health consulting rooms, catering to the school’s growing student population in the northeastern suburbs. The light-filled general learning areas are connected by a contemporary learning commons, offering various group spaces, quiet study areas, and media nooks tailored to the school’s pedagogy.
