Victoria Harbour Family and Children’s Centre

Docklands’ first major community centre, this was also a pilot project for developing VicUrban’s childcare-specific ESD rating tools. It offers 150 new childcare places, maternal and child health services, family counselling, long day-care and occasional care in a healthy environment, courtesy of natural ventilation, sun shading, low-energy lighting, rainwater collection, solar hot water and non-toxic finishes. Located one level above a retail precinct, the Centre opens onto a private landscaped play area and vegetable garden with a domestic feel.
