Ben Smart
Collectively negotiating a project into existence, from initial client desire through to built solution has to be one of the most fulfilling roles in the world. I feel privileged to play my part in this complex and rewarding process.
Ben is an experienced Architect working across commercial, institutional, hospitality, residential, healthcare and defence sectors throughout Australasia and Europe. He has played key roles in the design and delivery of major projects for the Department of Industry, Science and Resources and a range of Department of Defence works supporting strengthened sovereign capability. His healthcare experience spans significant redevelopments across Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland, from mid-scale hospital upgrades through to large tertiary projects.
He is a strong communicator with the ability to quickly synthesise complex and competing project drivers into resolved, cost-conscious design outcomes. Ben brings a creative, inquisitive and adaptive approach, balancing client aspirations with the practical realities of procurement, delivery and program constraints.
He values collaboration and believes good design leadership is about unifying teams to achieve outcomes beyond expectations, underpinned by a pragmatic understanding of time, cost and delivery pressures, and a calm, resilient approach throughout all project stages.
