Adelaide Bank Rescue Helicopter
A crucial requirement of the brief was the need for a helicopter to be airborne within ten minutes of receiving an emergency dispatch – day or night, rain, hail or shine. To deliver on that, the facility integrates a multi-aircraft hangar, administrative offices, maintenance bay, training facilities and sleeping quarters for crew. The public face of the building juxtaposes strongly coloured boxes, while the white hangar is a simpler form, to subtly evoke the silhouette of a helicopter’s tail and fin.
