Australian Phenomics Facility

Inside the Australian Phenomics Facility, researchers seek to define the mammalian phenome. The architecture for this intriguing centre was conceived in three expressions: a pedestal, a buffer and a matrix. A masonry pedestal anchors the building at ground-floor, with a two-storey buffer zone adjoining Garran Road floats as a creative, transparent front. The green matrix façade acts as a climate modifying skin, responding to landscape and light with its cladding and sun deflection systems that allow views while sheltering interiors.
