WINDORB is a combined street light and wind turbine. It not only generates power for its own use but is an iconic urban design element giving branding to prominent boulevard locations.

The Darrieus vertical axis turbine is quiet and safe. When spinning, it morphs into the shape of a spherical orb. A photo-luminescent coating will absorb daylight and illuminate the blades at night. The blades are high strength, flexible, carbon fibre: a better way to use carbon than burning fossil fuels.

The lights are LED which have 60-90% energy savings over conventional street lights. Batteries for the LED lighting are stacked vertically within the light pole and with grid connection will draw and deliver power only when required.
