The University of Adelaide Innova21

The new University of Adelaide Innova21 building is designed to achieve a 6 star GBCA Green Star Education V1.0 rating on completion.

Once finished, the University will have a co-located Faculty of Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences in the precinct directly bordering the historically significant library and formal lawns area. This building will be a new iconic education complex located at the junction of an important primary and secondary pedestrian network connecting the campus to the city and parklands.

The development will also offer a new exhibition space in an enclosed atrium area between the new Innova21 building and the existing Engineering North building. It will also have a readily identifiable main entrance with a new lift, stair core and multi-level connections to strengthen connections between the new buildings to its neighbours.

In order to achieve the highest green star rating possible, ESD features will include solar photovoltaic panels located at roof level to generate 2 kW of renewable power, geothermal ground loops for heat rejection from the communication room air conditioning systems and natural gas fired cogeneration plant incorporating an absorption chiller and heat exchangers for reuse of waste heat.
