The Shams development on Reem Island, Abu Dhabi is crowned by eight commercial and residential towers. The towers, which are clearly visible from almost anywhere in Abu Dhabi city define the whole Reem Island development, and have already achieved the status of being considered the most desirable address in Abu Dhabi.

DesignInc were commissioned to design the 2 level retail podium building that links the towers, providing a retail offer that is to serve on-site residents, staff in the commercial towers as well as visitors.

The leasing mix therefore has a substantial service component to satisfy the everyday needs of the residents and office workers, while also offering a selection of high-end luxury retailers that will attract visitors from other parts of Abu Dhabi and become established as a retail destination.

The interior design develops the elliptical shape of the signature towers in the development, particularly in the shape of the voids that link the floors and provide natural light to the lower level. The palette of materials is restrained and light, with extensive use of natural stone and glass.
