The new Royal Women’s Hospital (RWH) is the premiere sustainable hospital design in Australia.
The project brings together the Royal Melbourne and Royal Women’s Hospitals in the same location.
As part of the Royal Women’s Health Partnership consortium, DWI (DesignInc Woodhead partnership) was commissioned to design, document and deliver the $250 million redevelopment. The success of the RHW demonstrates DesignInc’s ability to enter a collaborative procurement project and provide a seamless working partnership.
The 260-bed hospital provides specialist women’s and neonatal paediatric health services, integrating the infrastructure and support service of Royal Melbourne Hospital. Specific services provided include breast screening, gynaecology, oncology and emergency services.
The hospital design caters for the needs of women from varying backgrounds and cultures. It is future proof, offering flexible spaces for changing requirements.
