The Forest Room and Ocean Room are treatment rooms within the Pediatric Emergency Department of the Women’s & Children’s Hospital.

They were redesigned with the intention of providing stimulation through the use of bright colours, sounds and images in order to distract children from the anxiety that comes with being in a ‘clinical’ environment.

Medical equipment has been hidden as much as possible in each room, so that children feel that they are entering a safe environment, whilst still maintaining accessibility for medical and nursing staff.

Graphics were designed by DesignInc, and applied to walls, floors and ceilings to create an immersive experience for the child.
