The Address Hotel at Dubai Marina is a new landmark hotel created by Emaar, the largest property developer in the Middle East. Although primarily designed to cater to the corporate traveler, the leisure market and a large residential population in the immediate environs have to also be served, and the hotel has to compete with several other hotels in the vicinity.

‘Rive Gauche’ is the signature restaurant at The Address Hotel, offering a modern take on French cuisine. The space occupied by the restaurant is approximately 1,100 sq m, with a large adjoining terrace area. Both restaurant and terrace have views of Dubai Marina.

Designinc’s commission was to create a modern take on a traditional French brasserie, to create a ‘brasserie luxe’. The final brief called for a restaurant, oyster bar, bar and private dining room in the space. As the space is so large with a very hight ceiling one of the design challenges was to create a suitably intimate setting for the dining patrons.

The final design created a series of small spaces that allow a degree of intimacy. The palette of materials and finishes are rich both in texture and colour, which contributes to the overall feeling of opulent intimacy.
